Ubuntu Education Fund Charity Gala lures the stars and raises £745,000 in London

Ubuntu's fourth annual gala dinner held at the Battersea Power Station, raised £745,000 – a staggering amount of money that will be used to launch the first comprehensive paediatric HIV clinic of its kind in the Eastern Cape at the Fund's headquarters, the Ubuntu Centre.

Guests including Trudie Styler (pictured), James Caan of Dragon's Den and best-selling author Annabel Karmel joined Gala Chair Earl Spencer for the evening where speeches were given by Spencer, the Ubuntu fund's founder and president Jacob Lief, its founder and senior advisor Banks Gwaxula and Ubuntu scholarship holder Bulali Dyakopu.

Bulali enrolled in Ubuntu's holistic programmes for 3 years and has received a scholarship to study journalism at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.

The fund is a community-based organisation that provides thousands of children and their families with life-saving health services and essential educational resources - and their winning approach has been recognised with Lief recently chosen as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
